Before the ages of man, before the world had even existed, there was darkness. Creatures found themselves evolving from their own bodies into these strange and iconic figures. There was no sense to the changes, but they did not worry. For all things happened for a reason. But not all things came at a price. As man evolved through the ages, from learning to make fire to sending messages instantly from anywhere, there was a group of individuals who were different than the rest. Scared to reveal themselves to the world, they hid for a long time. One of the first "mutants", as they came to be called, was tortured and killed. The humans fear anything which is different. They fear all that they do not understand. Some "mutants" learned to hate the humans, thinking they were above them. In reality, we are all equal. In these thoughts, it forced the world to shift once more. Two men, different in their own ways, decided to make a change for the world, for the "mutants" and humans. One man wished for peace and harmony between the two, but the other wished for war. Humans and "mutants" found themselves fighting not only physically, but through the legal system. Some wanted the others' rights revoked and others just wanted more freedom. As the great war broke out over the entire world, many lives were lost. It did not matter if they were human or different, both parties shed their blood on that day. Both parties lost significant numbers. Professor Charles Xavier knew it would take many years before his kind and the humans would be able to live together. So he gathered the "mutants" that remained and created a safe haven with them. They would harbor all the lost and scared "mutants" all over the world, feed them, keep them safe, but above all, teach them. Learning to be able to control ones' powers was a strong advantage in any instance. If they could do this, then they could prove to the humans that they were not scary or war-crazed psychotic "mutants". They had feelings and were immortal all the same. In a land far from the eyes of man, hidden between mountains and large trees, lies the Xavier's Institute For Gifted Youngsters. Here they are able to learn about their own abilities, as well as the human studies. The Institute has been open for over twenty years now, and all are well.
